DCCCD Scholarships Can Help You Pay for College


StarIconCould you use extra money to pay for tuition and books? Receiving a DCCCD scholarship would certainly help. Scholarships, unlike loans, are a gift you don’t have to pay back.

Here are a few of our many DCCCD scholarships. The deadline to apply for most of these scholarships is early next year. So get your application started now!

  • The Alice Jones Berding Award in Music goes each year to the outstanding music student at each of the seven DCCCD colleges. Each Berding winner receives a cash award of up to $500 and the opportunity to perform in an annual concert. Deadline to apply: Second Friday in February.
  • The Cecil Wallace Fordham Award in Visual Arts is presented each year to the outstanding art student at each DCCCD college. Each Fordham winner receives $500 and the opportunity to participate in an annual art exhibit. Deadline: Third Monday in February.
  • Services for Disabled Students Scholarship: Established in 1991, this scholarship provides $250 per semester for students with disabilities attending any of the seven DCCCD colleges.  Deadline: March 1.
  • Lone Star Corvette Club Automotive Technology Scholarship: Are you an Automotive Technology student? You can receive up to $500 per semester if you win this scholarship. It’s for any DCCCD student majoring in Automotive Technology who has completed 12 credit hours. The deadline varies.
  • The Ratcliff Scholarship Fund: The Ratcliff fund is actually two scholarships.
    • The Thelma B. Ratcliff Nursing Scholarship provides up to $750 for a nursing student. It is open to those at any DCCCD college, but preference is given to African-Americans.
    • The Lareese Ratcliff Scholarship is available only at Cedar Valley College. This $750 scholarship is for students who are pursuing a federal law enforcement career. Anyone who meets the criteria can apply, but preference is given to African-Americans.

There’s no deadline to apply for either Ratcliff scholarship.
